Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ – Hot Lips Sage
Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ is a vibrant, long-flowering perennial prized for its eye-catching two-tone blooms of red and white, which can shift to solid red or white depending on temperature and light. From early summer right through to the first frosts, it provides a constant splash of color and is a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Growing 24–36 inches tall and spreading 18–24 inches wide, this bushy, aromatic shrublet bears masses of small, tubular flowers above neat, bright green foliage. Its gently arching stems and profuse blooms make it ideal for mixed borders, containers, and wildlife-friendly gardens.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, ‘Hot Lips’ is drought-tolerant once established and exceptionally low-maintenance. It blends beautifully with grasses, perennials, and other salvias, and works especially well in Mediterranean-style plantings.
