Rhodanthemum hosmariense – Moroccan Daisy
Rhodanthemum hosmariense is a compact and free-flowering evergreen perennial, admired for its masses of daisy-like white flowers with sunny yellow centres held above finely divided silver-green foliage. Flowering over a long season from spring into summer, it brings a fresh, bright display to containers, gravel gardens, rockeries, and the front of sunny borders.
Reaching around 20–30 cm in height with a spread of 30–40 cm, this neat mound-forming plant stays compact and tidy, making it ideal for smaller spaces and edging. The fern-like foliage provides texture and year-round interest, while the flowers rise just above the leaves on slender stems.
The cheerful blooms open freely in sunny weather and are attractive to bees and other pollinators. Rhodanthemum hosmariense is particularly effective in pots, alpine displays, Mediterranean-style planting, or anywhere a low-growing burst of colour is needed through the warmer months.
This hardy perennial thrives in full sun and prefers sharply drained soil. It is well suited to drier conditions once established and dislikes heavy winter wet. Deadheading spent flowers regularly will help extend blooming and keep plants looking fresh.
